God's great gift, really for you my friends!
I am your shield, your very great reward: [Genesis 15:1]
What an incredible statement God made to Abraham in the scriptures, yet like many of us today, Abraham’s initial response was to remind God of what he not yet have – even though God had promised to make him into a great nation.
Whatever your circumstances if your response to such a statement was to remind God or anyone else of what you do not yet have – you are in great company for we are told Abraham is the father of the faithful. As you read the story of Abraham, you can see how he relates to God; he speaks honestly of what was in his mind, even reminding God of the promise that is yet to be fulfilled.
What promise is yet to be fulfilled in your life? Do you believe, really believe that God really cares about you? About the job you want, the relationship you seek, about your finances or even the spiritual struggles you have? Reflect on the words God spoke to Abraham in Genesis 15:1. What does it mean for God to be your shield and very great reward? For one, it means God himself has given us what is most precious to him – Himself through Christ and the Holy Spirit! This is indeed the greatest gift possible. (By Jaita)
